This research examines the connection between the rail passanger transport and the tourism services, especially concerning wine tourism. It has a goal to adopt a new mathemathics approach, which help us to comprehend the relation of railway transport with tourism. The research area is the Villány-Sik-lós wine route, where today it is not possible to use the rail line between Villány and Harkány. There are two important results of this paper. First one, that it shows the role of the railway in wine tourism in general the country and in South Transdanubia as well. The second one is the new method, which is able to value the role of the railway lines in tourism concerning both the active and the closed lines.
